Photograph caption dated June 12, 1985 reads, "Minnie Cook of Woodland Hills tries not to let it interfere with her backswing, but in view of the unexpected hazard, she could have been excused for three-putting on the 14th green at the Van Nuys Golf Course. A small plane skidded to rest there after its hydraulic system malfunctioned during a landing at Van Nuys Municipal Airport on the far side of Vanowen Street. Without brakes, the plane sliced through the airport fence, caromed off a couple of cars, drove through the golf course fence and came to rest not far from the pin. Pilot James Mayfield, 33, of Tucson, called it 'a miracle' and no one was seriously hurt. The motorists were not harmed."
