Description
This circa 1900 postcard shows the corner of Tenth and L streets. The granite piers at either side of the entrance were put into place in 1881 to a crowd of 100 onlookers who cheered when installation was complete. Each pier weighed roughly 15 tons and was about 14 feet tall.
