Description
Colored lithograph of oil painting. "Dollar Steamship Lines" lettered on frame at the bottom. Shows the large steamship President Roosevelt, flying the United States flag, with two smokestacks, and a dollar sign on each stack. A Chinese junk is sailing alongside the steamer. On reverse of frame: "Private property of Andrew B. Bennett, Municipal Weather Station, San Jose, California; co-operative station U S W B ; Oct. 3, 1936." This appears to be the USS General W. P. Richardson (AP-118), which was operated briefly by American President Lines in the 1950s as the President Roosevelt. (American President Lines was the successor to Dollar Steamship).
