Exterior view of the Hotel Barbara Worth, located at Seventh and Main streets in El Centro. The hotel was named after Harold Bell Wright's best-selling book, The Winning of Barbara Worth, a historical novel set in what is now the Imperial Valley. Constructed in 1914 and opened on May 8, 1915, the hotel was a popular destination for many years, but was destroyed by fire on January 21, 1962. A Shell sign indicates that a service station is located directly outside of the image frame on the left.
