View of St. Joseph's Cathedral standing at the northeast corner of Market and San Fernando Streets. The church was dedicated in 1877 on the spot where four previous Catholic churches had stood since 1803. In 1990 St. Joseph's became the Cathedral for the Diocese of San Jose, and in 1997 received Basilica status from the Vatican.
