Description
This is a speech read before the State Horticultural Convention in Los Angeles. Mr. Chapman offered the following observations about the future of the orange industry--that cost saving methods must be employed in the labor of handling and marketing of the fruit in order to compete with foreign markets. He also predicted that scientific methods may not only assist in finer and more uniform crops, but also in finding ways to make use of the byproducts of the orange. Increasing the export market for the orange will increase revenues and the opeing of the Panama Canal should assist with exporting growth.
