Description
This 1910 postcard employs whimsy in celebrating New Year's Eve in Sacramento. On the evening, thousands welcomed the new year with horns, cowbells, whistles, and confetti on a full K Street. As stated in the January 1, 1911, Sacramento Bee, "many whose public records have been immaculate for the preceding 364 days painted themselves royal purple...[and]...Tenderloin characters issued forth by the hundred from the west end and mingled with society in hotels and restaurants."
