Description
1989-1269. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 32. Across a broad expanse of road stands a long low brick one story building with "Ennis Brown Company" written high on its facade; 9 round arches on the front enclose windows or an entrance; another building can be seen behind and another perpendicular to it at the end of the building; in front is someone on a bicycle and a model T behind it; another car appears to be parked in front. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Building erected in the early '50's by W.R. Stong who conducted his business here until it was purchased by Ennis & Brown Co., about 1902..."
