View of a street with buildings on the left and homes on the right side with cars on right side parked, facing into the photo; on left a car is in the middle of street, heading out of photo; on left is a tall 3 story brick building; smaller buildings on left recede into photo; on right a park (?) is located on the corner with a large area of grass bordered by small palm trees; after park come what appear to be houses.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"Southern Pacific Railroad Dept., right, commenced in 1925, completed. Feb. 27th, 1926. Left, State Hotel - erected in 1929."
