The Tavern of Tamalpais seen from a distance. It originally opened in 1896. A second floor was added a few years later. The archway was built over the tracks to connect with the new dance pavilion. The tavern was destroyed by fire in 1923 and rebuilt on a smaller scale in 1924. It was razed in the 1950s after a wind storm.
