Photographic portrait of Rt. Reverend Thaddeus Amat, C.M., D.D., second bishop of Monterey, [s.d.]. The bishop is seated and shown from his knees to his head. He can be seen looking straight ahead and one hand rests on a table at left while the other is in his lap. He is visible wearing a short cape over a white shirt and black robe. He has a necklace with a large cross around his neck. He has short hair parted at right, and on the table there is a bible next to what appears to be a lamp.
