Reverend Charles S. Casassa, S.J., the tenth President of Loyola University of Los Angeles from 1949 to 1969, was a great campus builder and the principal mover behind the affiliation and eventual merger with Marymount College. "Loyola regent William Starke Rosecrans was typical of graduates of the old St. Vincent's College who energetically supported its successor Jesuit institution" --Starr, K., Loyola Marymount University 1911-2011.
