Doro Bush Koch discusses her book, "My Father, My President: A Personal Account of the Life of George H.W. Bush." The book is a memoir of the life and presidency of her father, George H.W. Bush. She interviewed 135 people for the book. The people interviewed were not only friends and supporters, but opponents as well, like Michael Dukakis. Koch's father grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and joined the Navy during World War II. A plane Bush was piloting was shot down on September 22, 1944 and two of his crewmates were killed. She says that this has troubled him all his life, and Bush wonders why he lived and they died. After the war, he returned home, married his wife, Barbara, and enrolled at Yale. His son, George W. Bush, was born while he was attending Yale. After Bush graduated, he moved his family to Midland, Texas. After a few years, the Bush family moved to Houston where he later began his political career. Koch talks about her father's extreme strength of loyalty, and how he expects it from others. She gives credit to her sister-in-law, Patricia Reilley, with assisting her in writing the book.
