Photograph article dated April 6, 1961 partially reads, "One week ago, today, Jeffrey Strobach, 7, thought the world was about to end. He saw his dog Abby - a Bassett hound - run down and killed by a hit-run motorist on Vanowen street during the evening rush hour. The tragedy occurred near his home at 6836 Kasaube Ave., Van Nuys. The same youngster today, however, is 'floating on Cloud Nine,' according to his father, George W. Strobach. The reason: a kind-hearted Encino motorist who saw the accident sent Jeffrey a comforting note and a combination collie-shepherd-huskie puppy which the boy has named Cinderella. Stephen E. DeLancy, 32, 5263 Balboa Blvd., insisted today he had done nothing noteworthy. 'I'm no saint,' he said. 'I was just trying to help." Photograph caption reads, "Cinderella, left, makes Jeffrey happy again - Mrs. Strobach watches as her son overcomes tragedy."; See image #00139204 for additional photo in this series.
