Description
This item contains a picture of downtown San Jose from 1876 and a letter of explanation for the photograph. It shows a vacant lot that is the future site of the YWCA building. On Recto of 001: "San Antonio St.-looking east from Second - 1876 Baptist Tabernacle (L); Jewish Synogugue beyond; State Normal, center; original Congregational church, right." Verso is 002 -- compound object for OCR- Lettter to Y.W.C.A. from Herbert C. Jones with a blue place and date stamp in the shape of a oval in the middle of the letter. Readable sections state: "Mexico England and May 30 1943." 1876 Scanned with Microtek Scanmaker 1000XL Pro; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 24-bit RGB color. Auto Level image processing applied and compressed into JPEG format using Photoshop CS3
