Description
Photograph shows men posing at a train depot at Utah. Camp Victory as it appeared April 28, 1869, was appropriately named. On that day, eight brawny Irishmen, backed by an army of muscular Chinese and other experienced track builders, laid more than ten miles of rail and was a 10,000 wager for their boss, Superintendent Charles Crocker. Job was directed by Construction Superintendent J. H. Strobridge, standing left on flat car.
