This photo shows Cheri Pann, artist, potter, painter and teacher in the tiled kitchen of the house she shares with boyfriend and fellow artist, Gonzalo Duran, located at 111 Palms Boulevard in Venice. She and Gonzalo have created a colorful sanctuary they call "The Mosaic Tile House" as well as "Emerald City". When Cheri bought the house in 1994, the interior was a mess and the exterior was plain, they decided to tile the bathrooms and it snowballed from there. The Mosaic Tile House actually begins in the garden, which is completely tiled, and it continues inside their home, where nearly every inch is covered with mosaic masterpieces. Cheri grew up in East Los Angeles. In her late teens, she went to see a Vincent Van Gogh exhibit, stood in front of his paintings, and said, "I'm an artist!" From the late 1960's to the mid-1990's, Cheri has had more than 20 solo exhibitions in California and Japan, and has been in more than 50 group shows.
