A Salvadoran Army soldier sits while he keeps vigil on an empty street in Usulután, El Salvador. He holds an M1 Garand rifle, a weapon designed, manufactured and provided to the Salvadoran government by the United States. Richard Cross took this image in 1982 while covering the presidential election and War of Liberation in El Salvador.
