Photograph of a low-altitude aerial view of Los Angeles, looking southwest toward City Hall, showing the U.S. Route 101 freeway, ca.1950-1959. The Hollywood freeway (U.S. 101) runs from the lower left corner to the left background of the image, where it recedes into downtown. Its on and off ramps curve through the fore- and middlegrounds, wrapping around residential subdivisions on both the left and right edges of the image. City Hall is visible in the upper right corner of the image, with other buildings of the Civic Center around it. In the extreme foreground, what appears to be the Four Level Interchange can be seen.
