This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: "Looking north on Kearney [sic] St from 3rd St. Chronicle building on right." View looks north across Market from the west side of Third Street just south of Stevenson. The rebuilding of downtown after the 1906 disaster is well under way. The Mutual Savings building and the edge of the Call Building can be seen at the left. An addition is being built on the Chronicle building at the right. An empty lot occupies the location of the old Hearst Building at right; construction of the new structure has barely begun. A pile of rubble and a horse-drawn cart are seen in the foreground. Numerous streetcars are visible on both Kearny and Market streets.
