Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated May 18, 1982 reads, "A "tractorcade" of Kern County family farmers drove from the L.A. Convention Center to the Produce Market yesterday to dramatize their support for the proposed Peripheral Canal. The farmers, who claim they will be driven out of business if Proposition 9 fails, traveled in pickup trucks and tractors to combat the contention of canal opponents that wealthy Kern County farmers support the canal because it will bring them cheap water. On arrival at the Produce Market, the family farmers were addressed by Pete Schabarum, chairman of the county Board of Supervisors."
