Photograph of a panoramic drawing of Sonora Town, the first plaza area in Los Angeles, by Kuchel and Dresel, 1857. The drawing consists of a main image surrounded by many smaller images bordering the main image. The main image shows a panoramic view of the city. The city is composed of mainly single-story adobe homes and several two-story buildings (possibly commercial). Trees dot the landscape. Mountains can be seen in the background. Surrounding the main image are smaller images showing the architectural styles of the buildings during that time. Compares to CHS-6229.
Captions under the largest picture (center) reads: "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the rear 1857, by Kuchel & Dresel, in the Clerk's Office of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Cal.". Caption under the smaller pictures, starting from the top left corner going clockwise, read: "Leone Hoover", "San Suan", "Don Juan Ramirez", "Timms & Co., commission & forwardine business, San Pedro", "Stephen C. Fostep", "Don Jose Sepulveda", "McFarland a Downey", "Badefaure [...] Vidal", "Don Vicente Guerrero", "John Goller", "Bachman & Co.", "Don Filipe Ailhm", "Francis M[...]llus, Soilmon Lazang", "J.
