Photograph caption dated December 18, 1964 reads "Idle for more than a year, Rex C. Ellsworth's Candy Spots has been working out exceptionally well for exercise rider Chuck Russell during early morning trials. The oddly-marked chestnut figures to be a solid contender for handicap honors during the coming Santa Anita winter meeting, which opens Saturday, Dec. 26."
