By plane and train, these five Los Angeles representatives of the law were speeding to Pendleton, Oregon, to grill the captured William Edwa rd Hickman and bring him back to Los Angeles to face trial for the kidnapping and murder of Marion Parker. The three men in the rear traveled by plane: left to right, Detective Sergeant H. G. Taylor, George Contreras, chief of district attorney's office detectives, and Detective Sergeant E. M. Hamren. Taylor and Hamren both knew Hickman. Seated are Chief Deputy District Attorney Harold L. Davis, left, and Chief of Detectives Herman Cline, who traveled by train.
