Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated March 27, 1961 partially reads, "Pastel-colored apartments line quiet streets. A brisk wind blowing across the Antelope Valley forms spray from sprinklers watering trim, green lawns. Three-year-old saplings contrast with the nearby desert and sage brush. The location is a 202-unit apartment development for senior citizens in Lancaster by Martin Luther Homes, Inc., believed by its president, the Rev. John G. Simmons, to be the only project of its kind in California. The development is a solution to the high cost of living for elderly couples with limited income, the pastor said." Photograph caption reads, "Pastor Simmons views development. Discusses future plans with Mrs. Bagwell."; See image #00127789 for additional photo in this series.
