Photograph of a drawing of Fort Yuma on the Colorado River in California, ca.1850. The fort itself is on a hill on the far side of the river its wooden structures and American flag identifying it as a military bulwark. There is a steamboat in the center of the picture, along with two tall poles between which a rope is suspended that acts as guide for the ferry that is attached to it. In the foreground there are several men mounted on horses and a covered wagon hitched to a team of four animals. There are two buildings on the near side of the river, one that resembels a ranch house, and the other that has a sign that reads "W[...]ones".
