Description
Election Proclamation from 1830, articles numbered 1 through 58. Handwritten in Spanish, many smaller pages glued together to make one large sheet. Signed by Jose Echeandia in Monterey, Superior Political Chief of Both Californias. Translated by Ernest Pinoris (WPA Project); full translation available through link below. Summary at top of document: Complying to the Article 16 of our Mexican Constitution and the sovereign decree of the nineteenth day of July eighteen-hundred and twenty-four, we proceed to elect a proprietor deputy and a substitute to represent the Territory of upper California at the sovereign general congress who are to serve for the years of eighteen hundred and thirty one and eighteen hundred and thirty two.
