Description
Photograph of a large cylindrical support being built at City Garage in Pershing Square, Los Angeles, 1951. The support can be seen in the foreground at left. It is sunk deep into the ground, and three tall metal beams extend high into the air at center. Several men are gathered around the edge of it, and two men can be seen on top of it. Several large trucks, a bulldozer, and a steam shovel can be seen nearby. The support and the vehicles are located at the bottom of a deep pit that occupies the entire foreground. A dirt ramp leads from street level to the bottom of the pit at right. Several tall buildings can be seen around the edge of the pit.
