Description
Two views in the Japanese garden of the Gurdon W. Wattles residence, 1824 N. Curson Avenue, Los Angeles (Hollywood). View 1 (Martin-4107). Vertical, two women in kimonos at well in Japanese garden -- view 2 (Martin-4108). Small child, woman in Japanese kimono with child in arms, pose on footbridge in Japanese garden. Gurdon W. Wattles was born in Richford, N.Y. in 1855. Was financier in the East, coming to Los Angeles beginning in 1904, settling permanently in 1922. Owned estate in Hollywood, part of which was developed into Wattles Garden. Died in 1932.
