Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph article dated June 7, 1950 partially reads, "Grand opening of the Martin Oil Co. of California's first service station in the state, located in Studio City, will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The large, modern station is at 11707 Ventura Blvd., at the corner of Colfax Ave. H. B. Kirby, president of the organization, said Martin Oil has four other chains, the Martin Oil Co., Martin Oil Service, Martin Oil of Iowa and Martin Oil of Texas. 'When we reached the decision to form the Martin Oil Co. of California,' Kirby said, 'we chose the Valley for our first station because of this area's widely publicized growth.'"
