Photograph caption dated July 10, 1962 reads "Women discus hurlers come in every size and shape as the above photos illustrate. The gals were caught in action Sunday evening at the 40th Annual National AAU Senior Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the Coliseum. The gals, from left to right, are Olga Connolly who threw 172 feet, two inches for a new meet record; Earlene Brown, who placed second with 154-foot, 5-inch effort; Japan's Seiko Obonai [pictured], 150 feet, 3 inches, and Melody McCarthy. The first two placers qualified to participate in the upcoming U.S.-Russia meet in Palo Alto." See images 00157498 and 00159997 through 00159999 for all photos in this series.
