Description
The Thomas Ranch that grew oranges was at the mouth of Cloverleaf Canyon. He is the father of Mary Nevada Thomas who married Milton Monroe. "The location of John M. Thomas' forty acre ranch in Clover Leaf canyon. It is immediately north of the ranch of Prof. Cross. Twenty acres are planted to orange, lemon and deciduous trees. This property is so hedged about by mountains that it has perfect immunity from frost. A large market garden further up the canyon has green peas, tomatoes, etc., in the market at midwinter. Mr. Thomas is one of the early settlers in the county, having come here twenty eight years ago. Water for his ranch is obtained from Clamshell canyon and the supply is ample for the need of the ranch." Monrovia Messenger Souvenir Edition 1897.
