Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated March 29, 1935 reads, "Endless days whose monotony is broken only by voluntary tasks....long, dark nights often torn by memories--this is the routine of life in the 'city of forgotten women,' the state women's prison farm at Tehachapi where 145 inmates are paying their debts to society. The prison is eight and one-half miles from the nearest town. Photo shows the detention building where new prisoners live. It is the only building with barred windows. In addition there are an administration building, a sewing and laundry building, two cottages and other structures."
