Standing Buddha statue. Close-up of upper torso. Hands in a variant of Abhaya mudrā, with the right hand turned sideways instead of with the palm facing the viewer. This variant of the Abhaya mudrā is found in other Standing Buddha figures of Sri Lanka. The right hand is similar to the great Buddha statue at Avukana. The frills on the robe are indicated by concave ridges and the left hand is grasping the robe at the shoulder. No visible urnā is in the center of the forehead, but the traditional snail-curl of the hair is surmounted by the protuberance, usnisha. There is no siraspata or flame on top of the ushnisha, but a crude one was added, and later removed.
