Photograph caption dated February 2, 1957 reads "Dr. T. J. Hardgrove, above, is director of Sepulveda Veterans Hospital, 20 million dollar plant which opened in 1955. Hospital has 28-buildings, two of which are shown below, and gives visitor impression of college campus. Left, Mrs. Virginia Shaw (not pictured), medical technician, goes through typical laboratory operation. Hospital combines treatment with research, soon will institute professional teaching program for interns, residents."
