Photograph caption dated August 10, 1964 reads, "Songstress Nancy Wilson will be guest speaker at a fall fashion show sponsored by Neighbors for Community Understanding of San Fernando Valley. The event will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday poolside at the home of jazz musician Shelly Manne, owner of Shelly's Manne-Hole in Hollywood, and his wife, Florence, prominent Valley horsewoman, at 18024 Parthenia St., Northridge. The public is invited to attend. Admission is $2.50. Mrs. Marilyn Seiffert, president of Neighbors for Community Understanding, said that fall fashions for the 6-year-old to the adult will be from Country Casuals, Sobel's Men's Shop and Virginia Wardell of California. Discussing plans for the event, above, are Mrs. Seiffert, left, Lake View Terrace; Mrs. Manne and Mrs. Ira B. Madison, Granada Hills. In background are two of the models Mrs. Darwin Miller, Encino, and Susan Madison, 6. Music and refreshments will be provided. Neighbors for Community Understanding is a non-profit Valley-wide organization formed last year to develop programs of employment preparation and cultural activity for Valley youths between the ages of 14 and 22."
