Description
Photograph of a Navajo Indian with his sheep at a desert water hole near Keam's Canyon, Arizona, ca.1890. The man squats next to the smaller of two water holes as he drinks. His horse stands behind him. A small herd of a couple of dozen sheep drink from the larger water hole at center. A pyramid of rough hewn branches sticks up out of the the middle of the large water hole. A short narrow channel connects the two water holes. They are located at the base of a shallow basin formed by arid embankments on both sides.
