Photograph dated March 19, 1963 shows Dr. Glenn Dumke, chancellor of California State Colleges. The article partially reads, "The death knell has probably been sounded for hopes of getting the entire 60-acre Devonshire Downs for Valley Sate College in Northridge...Chancellor Dumke delivered the eulogy for the death of the plan to turn the Downs over to Valley State. 'We tried in every way we possibly could to get all the land envisioned in the original master plan,' he said. (The plan included the Downs property). Then, he listed the cause of death: lack of money."
