Description
Dress in the style of the Sgaw Karen people in Thailand. The dress is made of undyed cotton, and consists of four separate panels sewn together. Bright pink and reddish-colored thread is woven into the vertical sides of each panel. A thick strip of pink, green, yellow, and pink cotton design is woven (horizontally) into the middle of the dress and at the hem. The pink cotton thread from the design is left long to form tassels. Additional tassels are added to the hem. The pink cotton thread is further braided around the neckline and armline to keep the raw cut edges from fraying, ending in long tassels. The side hems on the bottom of the dress are braided with red thread, ending in shorter tassles. The hem is further decorated with pink, yellow, and blue pompoms. Original title from SEACRC: Karen White Dress #2
