Photograph caption dated March 13, 1961 reads, "Seventeen months ago North Hollywood merchants raised $155,200 to help buy lots for off-street parking. Recently, however, the City of Los Angeles bought the lots for municipal parking areas. Friday night at Bill Storey's restaurant, 4100 Cahuenga Blvd., the money was returned to the merchants. Park Newcomer, chairman, off-street parking committee, received the checks from Mayor Norris Poulson and Everett Burkhalter, 1st district councilman, left to right. The dinner was in honor of the North Hollywood off-street parking committee."
