Description
Photograph of a view of Philadelphia Street looking east from Greenleaf Street in Whittier, ca.1924. Early automobiles are paked diagonally in toward the sidewalks on either side of Philadelphia, while two lanes of moving cars make their way up and down the pavement. To the left, pedestrians can be seen windowshopping in full figure. In the right distance, the Hotel William Penn can be seen. What appear to be telephone wires stretch across the street. Legible signs from left to right include: "Poinsettia", "Smith Bros. Music Co.", "L.A. Daniels, Dentist", "E.T. Stoddard, Jeweler", "Kandy", "Rees", "Drugs, Soda. Adams & [...]", "Cafe Teri[...]", "Real Estate", "Palmers Shoes", "Piggly Wiggly" and "Toggery. N.B. Whiter's Clothing, Shoes, Hats".
