Photograph caption dated March 1, 1963 reads, "William Sutherland, Sylmar, climbed into the pool at Lockheed-California Co.'s Burbank plant the other day and set about testing 'Moby Dic [sic] I,' a sea-sound reporter that will sneak up on whales and porpoises and listen to their 'conversations.' The Moby Dic [sic] in the pool is a small-scale model - one-quarter the size of the proposed full-scale robot craft that would be equipped with television cameras above and below water surface. Radio controlled, the Moby Dic [sic] will operate a half-mile from the Lockheed oceanographic mother ship. Model was created by Sutherland and William Evans, Chatsworth, shown at controls."
