Description
Two women wear fashionable morning and evening dresses for April 1818. The woman on the right wears a white, empire-waisted dress with puffed sleeves and elbow-length, white gloves. She wears a blue and white striped scarf that is tied in a bow. She wears a structured, blue hat with a large plume of thin blue feathers attached to the front and pearl drop earrings. She holds a white fan, closed, up to her mouth and looks to the right. The woman on the left is placed in the background and wears a long-sleeved, green coat with pink detailing. Underneath, she wear a white, empire-waisted dress with a ruffled hem. The high coat collar and the cuffs are decorated with pink ribbon. The bodice of the coat is decorated with horizontal pink stripes of ribbon and narrow ruffles in a military style. The cuffs are bordered with pink ribbon. The inside of the coat is pink and the waist is defined by a green ribbon. She wears green shoes and carries a green handbag with gold accents. She wears a large white bonnet with pink stripes outlining the edges and diagonal pink stripes along the brim. A plume of pink and white feathers is attached to the front of the bonnet.
