Description
Studio portrait of Eldridge Edwards Hewitt (1828-1895). Hewitt was superintendent of the Los Angeles & San Pedro Railroad beginning in 1870, and later the Southern Pacific Railroad; he also served as Los Angeles County treasurer (1876-1878) and county tax collection (1893-1894).
"Sunbeam Gallery No 55 Main Street Los Angeles" and "W. Godfrey"--text, handwritten in ink on verso Title devised by cataloger. Title devised by cataloger; date approximated by cataloger based on general history of photographer; William Godfrey photographed the Los Angeles & San Pedro locomotive in 1870.
