Description
View 1 (2017-0184) -- view 2 (2017-0185). Shows the launching of freighters from the Alameda Plant, Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation. Initially shipyard established by United Engineering Company; purchased by Union Iron Works in 1916 (later Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation); came to be known as Alameda Works. On July 4th, 1918, launched four freighters - Defiance, Independence, Victorious, and Challenger.
