The Indian mother sits to the left, wearing a long striped skirt and a patterned blouse under a brightly patterned shawl or blanket pulled tightly about her shoulders. Her hair is cropped in bangs at front, parted down the middle, and hangs to her shoulders. A small Indian boy wearing a loose plaid garment sits barefoot in front of the two women with his left hand raised to his mouth. His hair is cropped short.
