Description
Photograph caption dated November 25, 1947 reads, "Parents Console Each Other at Motorist's Preliminary Hearing in Traffic Death of Their Child." Note: Patrick Burns, 7, was killed when struck by an automobile driven by Jack A. Risley, 26, in a crosswalk at Ninth and Valencia streets. Witnesses said the car threw the boy 159 feet. Risley was booked on suspicion of manslaughter.
