Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Shell Oil Company, showing spherical tanks, ca.1940. Massive, spherical tanks stand in a row which extends from the foreground on the left into the background on the right. Each tank is supported by thick metal beams which stand beneath it and staircases wind around each sphere to the machinery which sits on platforms at their tops. A man stands to the right of the center sphere along the fenced walkways which lie throughout the yard. A small, wooden structure can be seen beyond the spheres at center with a skeletal, metal structure to its left.
