Description
Firefighters in dress uniforms lead different apparatus down Cedar Avenue as part of Capt. Shrewsbury funeral procession. Caption reads: "Procession of Long Beach Firemen and Motorized apparatus, led by All-White horse and carriage, in tribute to J.E. Shrewsbury, First Active Fire Chief, whose death occurred in collision of fire apparatus at Broadway and American, in response to an alarm May 2, 1916." Photo identifies firefighters leading horse carriage as Arthur L. Peterson, left, and Johnnie Richardson, right.
