Description
Photograph of a panoramic view of Hollywood looking northeast from Santa Monica Boulevard and Highland Avenue, ca.1926. The Hollywood State Bank and the Standard Fence Company are visible in the foreground to the left along the boulevard to the other side of which is a Shell Gas Station and other commercial buildings. Residential blocks fill the rest of the frame to the right, extending to the mountains in the background. In the extreme right foreground, a second gas station is partially visible.
Legible signs include: "Muller Bros. 'The World's Greatest Service Station'", "Hearts in Dixie", "RCA Radiola", "Auto Show / Jefferson & Royal", "Wash Rack", "Cinema Hotel Apartments", "Rooms with Bath $6.00 Week & Up", "Cantlay & Tanzola", "Hearn & Beardslee", "[San]dwich Nook", "Auto Park 15¢", and "Charles F. Laverty / Real Service for Fords". The Hollywood sign is also visible.
